The Inportance of Social Experience The Importance of Social ExperienceThroughout history there have been many theories on how important social experience is to human development, but what if a child were to have no social experience? Would the child still develop and become a normal functioning adult? Although scientists have never actually experimented with isolating humans, there have been cases of abuse in which children were socially isolated for long periods of time(Macionis J. Gerber L. 2002, p.111-112).With these cases to study and with social scientists theories on development we have begun to understand the significance of social interaction to the human development. When social scientists studied cases of severe isolation in children, they realized that they did not have a personality, they just existed. They did not experience joy, anger, sadness or any emotion that would be consistent with a child that had been loved and held throughout their young lives.Franà §ais : Portrait de groupe avec Pierre Bovet ( ...Harry and Margaret Harlow took this information and further explored it by placing monkeys in various situations of social isolation, they came to the conclusion that humans need human touch to thrive. Bydiscovering this they also discovered that interaction itself is more important, no matter who the caregiver is as long as the basic human needs are being met. Basic human needs play a large part in human development and if all needs are not met at the appropriate ages the child may never have the capacity to use that part of their brain again, which means they might not ever be able to learn certain skills even if given the opportunity (Macionis J. and Gerber L. 2002,p.113). The different stages of human development fall into categories that were argued by psychologists to be the normal ways for a human to develop into a adult. All of these psychologists'...

Finance and its importance In the Business world - Essay Example Usually corporations only give 7 days credit term at most is 15 days credit term. If it will go more than that then they have to seek bank loans in order to provide buffer or answer the shortfall of cash for its operating cost. A lending company has available funds for $300.00. The average amount borrowed in a month is usually $200.00. If in case, one borrower name Sally cannot pay the amount of $100.00, they still has a buffer left in the amount of $100.00. In case the borrowings on that week go as high as $300.00, then they are going to the bank to make a short term loan in lower interest rate. This thereby affects their income since the interests that they paid with the bank already eat up a portion of the income that they generate out of the transaction. Still they have to put up the funds, otherwise they cannot maintain their line of borrowers. It is the idea of financing of contingencies and seasonal peaks in working capital. Inventory is the art of warehousing. It entails a list of the raw materials, equipment and parts, office supplies needed to run the business or production without faltering. The list is readily available at the stores section or at the warehouse for the requisition of other departments.

Impact of Energy Cost - Research Paper Example Note that various industries such as manufacturing, transportation, and fishery among others are oil-intensive. In this regard, an increase in the pump price of petroleum products would push up their production cost. This translates to an upward shift in the aggregate supply curve from AS1 to AS2, wherein higher price is seen. This condition proves that in the event of energy cost uptrend, increase in inflation is highly likely. Such is especially applicable to oil dependent nations which are extra sensitive to the volatility in energy cost. When energy costs increase, the prices of final output rise to recoup higher production cost incurred. With this, rising inflation occurs. As mentioned in the article, subsidy on high crude prices is unsustainable as it weighs down government budget. As such, Indonesian and Thai governments lifted such subsidies and allowed firms and consumers to fully absorb price increases instead. The elimination of subsidies is comparable to increasing net taxes because essentially it decreases deductions in taxes. This results in the downward shift in the income function as rising energy cost reduces consumption given a particular marginal propensity to consume (MPC), from AE1 to AE2. Relative to this, AD curve shifts downward from AD1 to AD2.

On the Sidewalk Bleeding Monuloge Essay All I feel is the excruciating pain entering my aching body. The irritation and agony makes me feel defenceless. I have a multitude of varied thoughts racing through my confused mind. As I am helplessly laying on the cold, wet concrete, with the rain drilling down on me, I am thinking if this is how I am going to die, my life over at the age of just 16. I can think back and faintly remember someone saying, ââ¬Å"thatââ¬â¢s for you royal!â⬠and just thinking to myself, if I was not wearing this stupid jacket that I once thought was so important, I perchance wouldnââ¬â¢t have even been in this discomforting situation. All I can do at this point is helplessly lay here praying for someone to find me. Then finally I take a great effort and look over to the end of the street though the rain blurring my vision and see the bright neon lights of a vehicle binding me. I feel a massive relief, I see two figures coming toward me I try to yell again but they seem to just be talking to each other. I want to get their attention but all the sound I can make is the bubbling of blood filing my mouth, as if I am drowning in my own vital fluid. It sounds like the grunt of an animal and thatââ¬â¢s the only sound I am capable of making in this state. I start to panic because the people arenââ¬â¢t recognising that I am there, after I take all my energy and frustration to get their attention they look at me for a little then they mutter to each other, I canââ¬â¢t understand much they are mumbling about. I just feel powerless hoping he will make the right decision and just get a cop or hep me. He looks at me, my cut body and the rain soaking my purple royals jacket. He sympathetically says, ââ¬Å"Sorry royal,â⬠and walks away. At this very moment I feel frustrated, overwhelmingly confused with anger and abundance. Is it that big of a deal that I am a royal? I am not just a royal, I am Andy. I feel drastically judged and labelled. Right now I will do anything and everything I am physically capable of just to take this jacket off, the only thing that jacket ever did to me was rob me of my life.

The Art of Leadership What is leadership? Leadership is having the ability to give guidance to those that will follow. Those that follow will help to complete the mission. Leadership is an immature science and the body of knowledge in the field has developed through a series of fits and starts. Leadership is a soft science, just as anthropology, sociology and psychology. It cannot be proven exactly what it is. Leadership is an art; the skillful application of leadership behaviors beyond techniques is much the same as the skillful application of brushstrokes by a master painter. Leadership is both rational and emotional. Some people take several years and even several classes and still canââ¬â¢t quite be a good leader. I even took a test, which more or less states that I need to relax and calm down. The test covers several different areas ranging from personality quirks to communication and even how I prefer to handle conflicts. Introduction This paper will be discussing several areas that were examined through the test on leadership and personality that was taken by the author. Some of the major points that will be discussed are how the author rates himself against others on his team or in his group. A couple of other major points that will be touched on are conflict management and communication skills. Also, the author will be covering some of his ideas on leadership and whether or not any one individual can perfect it. The author has quite a bit of experience in these areas and conveyed some of his ideas in this paper. Strategy Leadership is a social process shared among all members of a group. Leadership development comes t... ...e people to totally change their way of doing things but if there are some problems, I hope those individuals were able to pull some ideas out of this in the long run. Conclusion While writing this paper I concluded several different things about leadership. Most people are very mistaken when it comes to the topic of leadership. It is a common belief that everyone has the potential to be a good leader, which is not true. This is proven time and time again by people who try to start their own business and it goes under in one or two years because they donââ¬â¢t know how to get the most out of their employees and keep them happy at the same time. In the end, a leader will always accomplish the mission and never fail his subordinates. Bibliography: 1. Robbins, Stephen P. Organizational Behavior. Upper Saddle River, NJ: Prentice. Hall, 2000.

Social networks are a fun way to communicate, interact with friends, and enjoy online schooling, but are also harmful due to the harassment of cyber bullies and predators. Social networks/medias show their good side when we are all having fun on them, communicating with our friends. It is a fun and interactive way to converse, and meet new people; it gives people opportunities to learn characteristics that they have in common with each other, and make stronger relationships. Some people use Facebook, Twitter, and even Myspace to communicate with their friends; usually it is to make them aware of what youââ¬â¢re doing, going to do, or already have done, and meet new people, all through a fun, inventive way. Cyber Predators find their victims through internet sources, which is often social media, to learn personal information, harass, and stalk their victims; in most cases causing physical, emotional, and/or mental harm to the victim. Cyber School is an effective way to receive an education over the internet and helps to balance a home, school, and work life; getting an education that is flexible to any schedule is a positive development. Social media is a fun and interactive way to converse with friends and meet new people; it gives people opportunities to learn about things that they have in common; and make a stronger relationship. Cyber Bullies and Predators usually affect the lives of teenagers and children because of their vulnerability; ââ¬Å"75% of children are willing to share personal information online about themselves and their families in exchange for goods and services;â⬠A Cyber Bully is someone who uses the internet to torment another person using cruel words and hateful sayings to purposefully discourage them; a Cyber Predator is usually an adult internet abuser that exploits children or teenagers because of their lack of wisdom and their large amount of vulnerability. Others might think that social networking isnââ¬â¢t helpful at all, that there is no use of it, and that it needs to be used less because of the lack of exercise children receive and connection it has to the increasing obesity growth rate or that it has only negative effects on its userââ¬â¢s safety. Social networking has changed how people live, work, and communicate by offering helpful schooling online, fun communication between others, but it also gives bullies and predators another method of victimizing others. Social media, though it may be a fun way to interact with others, can be harmful when it comes to your safety; many people donââ¬â¢t realize that putting much of their information on the internet can invite unwanted problems to your life.Andrew Ferguson, author of the web article, ââ¬Å"R U Tweeting 2 Much?â⬠published by Gale Opposing View Points In Context, in 2011, implies, people spend too much of their time on twitter and they tweet about any and everything based on impulse. Social media can be a powerful tool for social change and an alternative to more traditional methods of communication. ââ¬Å"Consequences from over-sharing personal information include vulnerability to sexual or financial predators and lost job opportunities from employers finding embarrassing photos or comments.â⬠No one would want their boss to see a picture on Facebook of their new employee getting drunk, so why would they put it up for the entire world to see? There is a saying that goes ââ¬Å"If you wouldnââ¬â¢t want your pastor at church, your parents, or your boss to know/see, then donââ¬â¢t do it.â⬠Socialnetworking.procon.org, updated in 2012, clarifies that, ââ¬Å"43% of online sexual solicitors were identified as being adolescents (under 18), 30% were adults between the ages of 18 and 21, and 9% were adults over the age of 21 (as of Dec. 31, 2008).â⬠Predators can be any age; so if someone gets a friend request from a random person that theyââ¬â¢ve never met before, but is the same age as them, they will probably accept the request; they think that because we are the same age, that the person must want to get to know me. Most people donââ¬â¢t worry about the harm that an unknown Facebook friend, or Twitter follower is capable of; they mostly think ââ¬Å"Yay! A new follower/friend! Iââ¬â¢m so popular!â⬠Well, yeah, maybe theyââ¬â¢re popular in the mind of a predator, but people should still watch out for situations like that because you never know when your life is at risk. Cyber bullying is a form of harassment via social networks; it causes its victims ââ¬â mainly teenagers between the ages of fourteen and seventeen ââ¬â to become emotionally and mentally scarred by its use. The web article ââ¬Å"Are Social Networking Sites Good for Our Society?â⬠updated in September, 2012, urge, social networking sites make cyber bullying ââ¬â a form of bullying that occurs online ââ¬â easier and more public than bullying through other online activities such as email and instant messaging. Cyber bullying can be classified as just commenting on someoneââ¬â¢s picture on Facebook, saying that their hair is really messed up. But other formââ¬â¢s of cyber bullying can be calling someone out in a status, calling them ugly, or fat, or any hurtful word. It can differ, but all forms of it can be hurtful and send anyone of the edge. The web article ââ¬Å"Are Social Networking Sites Good for Our Society?â⬠updated in September, 2012, ââ¬Å"A 2009 study found that 17.3% of middle school students have been victims of cyber bullying; victims often experience a drop in grades, decreased self-esteem, and other symptoms of depression.â⬠Well, kids would drop their self esteem because their self esteem is built by their surrounding peers; and if their peers are nothing but a bunch of bullies then it causes a decrease. The web article ââ¬Å"Cyber Bullying Statisticsâ⬠, published in early 2012, realizes, around half of teens have been the victims of cyber bullying. Many teenagers and children do not care for people who are outside of their groups of friends, so they feel that if they are different than them in any way, or they do things that they donââ¬â¢t do, then they are weird and they donââ¬â¢t like them, so they bully them for being different. Socialnetworks.procon.org, suggests, ââ¬Å"Social networking sites make cyber bullying, a type of bullying that occurs online, easier and more public than bullying through other online activities such as email and instant messagingâ⬠. Itââ¬â¢s easy for a child or a teenager to bully their peers, because kids just donââ¬â¢t care how they make each other feel; they donââ¬â¢t care about anyone but themselves in many situations. Itââ¬â¢s also easy for a kid to call someone a mean name, but even easier to call them a mean name through a computer monitor; probably so they donââ¬â¢t have to deal with a conflict between the victims in person. Cyber predators find their victims through internet sources; which is often social media to learn personal information, harass, and stalk their victims in most cases causing physical, emotional and/or mental harm to them. Michelle Dean, author of the web article ââ¬Å"Amanda Todd: Cyber Bullied,â⬠published in October 2012, comments, ââ¬Å"The systematic way the harasser allegedly followed Todd to new schools, repeatedly posting the images and threatening to do it again, makes it textbook harassment regardless of the medium.â⬠Some Cyber predators will stop at nothing to get what they want from their victim, no matter how far off the edge it will make the victim go; of course predators only think of themselves when it comes to their own wants. The web article ââ¬Å"Killer Created Facebook Profile to Lure Girl to Bushland,â⬠published by Gale Opposing View Points in Context, in 2012, explains, A man [that stalks] a girl on Facebook, learns all about her life and interests to plot how he would murder her. A man kills a woman by making a fake Facebook profile and telling her that he is a part of an animal association, drawing her into his lies by knowing all of her interests because of shared online information. Cyber predators use the internet as their source to figure out any and everything that is in association with their victimââ¬â¢s life. They are a regular predator, searching the internet for, usually young, victims. Victims are younger because they are the ones that donââ¬â¢t really pay any attention to who they do and donââ¬â¢t talk to through the internet, and are the most open to making a conversation with a random person. Communication between others over the internet can be fun and entertaining, but also it can be taken as a way of decline in our communication skills. Jonathan Cummings, author of the article ââ¬Å"___________________â⬠, published by _________ in ____, insists, Communicating through the internet is not as meaningful or reliable as face to face relationships. Although communicating through a computer monitor can be quite engaging, it isnââ¬â¢t as meaningful as chatting with someone in person; you canââ¬â¢t get the fullness of the conversation because you canââ¬â¢t see their emotions and actions. It just isnââ¬â¢t as much fun as a regular, in person conversation. Jonathan Cummings, author of _______, published by ______, in ____, states, ââ¬Å"Using the internet to build social relationships results in social interaction that is wanting, at least when it is explicitly compared to the standards of face-to-face and telephone communication, to social relationships that are primarily conducted offline, and to traditional small groupsâ⬠¦the Internet is less effective than other means of forming and sustaining strong social relationships.â⬠For instance, the internet can give you another form of communicating but it isnââ¬â¢t as insightful as having a conversation with someone in person. Many people are starting to enter the huge world that the internet holds, it may be very fun, but you canââ¬â¢t grasp the meaning of a good conversation when you are lacking one of the senses that most people include in their conversations; usually peopleââ¬â¢s actions or tone is what triggers a good, or meaningful conversation. Social networking has changed how people live, work, and communicate in a positive light by offering helpful schooling online, interesting social communication between others, and negatively by giving bullies and predators another method to victimize others. To help prevent these situations, people could not add others on social media websites that you do not know and are actually friends with. ââ¬Å"Social networking sites have no way to verify that people are who they claim to be, leaving people vulnerable to solicitations from online predators who are able to mask their true identities.â⬠Although it makes anyone seem like theyââ¬â¢re super popular on Facebook when they have around 2,000 friends, they DONââ¬â¢T know them all. Maybe they know about 300 of them personally, but the rest are all people that they donââ¬â¢t even know. Itââ¬â¢s not about having a lot of friends, itââ¬â¢s about having a safe life online. ââ¬Å"Social media can be a powerful tool for social change and an alternative to more traditional methods of communication.â⬠Works Cited Carter, Denise. Mohandas Ghandi Satyagraha. Meaning force or firmness of truth, Mohandas Gandhi worked and lived by this word. By peaceful, non-violent demonstrations he little by little took hold of the people of Indias love and honor and freed them from British rule. This is his story: On October 2, 1869 in Porbandar, India, a region of Queen Victoria, Mohandas Gandhi was born to Kaba Gandhi and his wife. Although his father, Kaba, was the chief Minister for the Maharaja of Porbandar, he and his family lived in a small house and belonged to a Hindu caste of merchants called banjas. As he grew, Mohandas became a small, shy and skinny boy, afraid of others opinions. He never spoke out, but although he was never a clever child, others wereâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦He had seen the hate the white man had for Indians. And for what reason? Their color or heritage? This did not seem right to him, so he began his life long struggle of never ending peaceful protests and his silent fight for justice for all. Mohandas Gandhi died in January of 1948. (The actual date is in dispute. The information from my book said that his death was on the 30th, but the World Book Encyclopedia says that it was Jan. 13th) He was shot 3 times by Godse, a Hindu himself. The whole world mourned for Gandhi, a man who had no authority in government, but definitely had earned the respect and most importantly, the love of his people. Showing love and humanity through peaceful acts, he became well- known and well-liked. For instance, in 1906 the Zulus in Africa (blacks) rebelled. A new tax had been forced upon them and they had refused to pay and decided to instead, fight. Sadly, they were almost at once crushed by the well-armed white people. There were many wounded so showing as much fortitude as possible, Gandhi and a group of his volunteers marched 40 miles a day through hilly country carrying much needed medical supplies to heal them. At first some of the soldiers wouldnt let him go, but eventually they understood. Some even thanked him. Gandhi also, no matter how they hated this, wanted peace between the Muslims and the Hindus.
